Just wow
I had no idea how deprived I was at my old job. I sucked it up and worked through my frustration every day thinking it was how everyone lived, but now I’ve crossed over to the world of working for a company that actually makes money and I’m never going back.
Maybe journalism was a more noble cause than retail. Yes that’s true. But let me just talk about the things that I can now...
facebook post college
The best part of graduating from college is when you can start defriending the people who post annoying ultra-conservative status updates. I don’t care what politics you choose, but when they start encroaching on my news feed and saying that women don’t deserve mammograms then yeahhhhhhh you just need to calm down and rest and stop for a second and realize what you’re really...

AWKWARD
In all the craziness and stress of getting the new job, I managed to win a statewide award for my work at The Enterprise. And it came with a $1000 prize. What was really awesome was that I found out I won the award a few days before I got the job offer. Literally, the office brought a bunch of cookies to celebrate my win and I gave them my two weeks notice THE NEXT DAY. So awkward. Apparently my...
next step
I’ve spent this weekend getting things packed up and starting to clean the house. It feels good to go through my things and purge what I don’t need. I’ve continued to play the game where I put shitty furniture on my lawn and watch people screech to a stop, pull over and pack it away in their trunks. One person on a bicycle even stopped and tried to balance my TV stand on their...
Not guilty
I need to get used to the idea that I deserve the good things that happen to me.
Two things
A) Third round tomorrow: I really hope this isn’t all for nothing. I want this so much.
B) New favorite quote: “Have a drink, because it’s not going to get any better.” — Brandi Glanville of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, high on Xanax in last night’s episode.
2012
Here’s how I rang in the new year: Worked until about 9:45 p.m. Wore my sparkliest shirt and dragged my friend along with me to Jeff’s friends’ wedding reception. Partook in the open beer/wine bar and counted down to 2012. Moved the party to a local bar we tend to frequent and drank some more. Bar set out a breakfast buffet that blew my mind and was especially a good thing...

Merry Christmas
About to head in to work early so we can hammer out this newspaper by 8 tonight. Then I’m waking up early in the morning to fly home on Christmas day. I’ll only be there until Tuesday night, so it’s kind of a stressful turn around… and I have certain matters to attend to while in Fort Worth (details coming soon?) that will take up most of my time. And depending on that...
Most print newspapers will be gone in 5 years - Is... →
shaneguiter:
Circulation of print newspapers continues to plummet, and we believe that the only print newspapers that will survive will be at the extremes of the medium – the largest and the smallest,” said Cole. It’s likely that only four major daily newspapers will continue in print form: The New York Times, USA Today, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal. At the other extreme,...

My mom made me join because she thinks if I pin things, she can get ideas about what to get me for Christmas. I’ve been avoiding it because it was a little too cutesy for me, but ugggh I can’t stop clicking! And it inspired me to bake cookies. Who am I?
